The Bottom of Larchmont Avenue. One of the possible places a bike lane will start and end.

Last week I read the article in the Rye City Review about the Village of Larchmont possibly opening up bike lanes on Larchmont Avenue and Chattsworth Avenue.  My family lives very close to the Village of Larchmont and we enjoy walking in the village especially during the warmer months so if the traffic commission approves biking that would give our family an additional enjoyable activity to do in town. In order for everyone to take advantage of the possible bike lanes drivers could park in the lot on Myrtle Avenue or drive up 5th Avenue in New Rochelle and park in the parking lots across from the station or on top of the I-95 overpass or at the train station where the approach is on Palmer Avenue.  However below is my list why bike lanes in Larchmont is a great idea.

  1. More people in town spending money with less vehicles on the streets.
  2. A fun family activity for weekends
  3. A great reason for people who live out of the area to visit
  4. Exercise
  5. Getting on a bike is a great way to burn off those calories after you have eaten at the Harbor House diner.

Anyway those are my 5 reasons.  Let me know your ideas are.
