Do you want something to do with your young children this weekend? If so, you will need to check the new Westchester Children’s Museum at Playland Park in Rye, NY. My daughter and I went on the opening day and she loved all the hands on activities. To let you know, her favorites were the wind tunnel experiments, the Keva Planks and the Build Your Own Roller Coaster track. I personally enjoyed sitting in the Spun Chair (you have to check those out when you visit). Look at my pictures and my videos at the bottom of this post of all the different activities you can enjoy.
The Museum is right on the Playland boardwalk and the entry fee for the museum is $7 per person and $6 for seniors. The days and hours are Wednesday to Sunday from 10 am to 4 pm. This museum is smaller, however for its size they have a lot of very different kinds of activities that preschoolers and kindergarten aged children can enjoy. On their website they talk about expanding the museum into the rest of the 22,000 sqft of the building. Those development plans will include more hands on exhibits for children, a theater, climbing structures, arts & crafts, classrooms for school visits and a cafeteria. This expansion will be something to definitely look forward to in the future. You can visit their website at Westchester Childrens Museum. Currently there is an ongoing a fund raiser so they can raise the funds to continue with these expansion plans.
